Ich habs beim einem Synthesizer Review gelesen, wo die "buttons gave up the ghost pretty soon" ... und mir gedacht - oh Gott wie peinlich. Google brachte dann die Erleuchtung.

"Pull yourself togehter" existiert ja tatsächlich, aber wo wir beim Anglizieren von Germanismen waren, hat der Grent sich wohl für "tear" entschieden, auch weil "tear" eher reißen bedeutet als "pull".

Wusste aber nicht, dass es "pull yourself together" überhaupt gibt.

Ne. Hab nur nachgesehen, weil es auf ebay einen falsch bezeichneten Synth ohne Bild gibt. Wenn ich ihn günstig krieg, verscherbel ich ihn 'richtig'.

"Give up the ghost" kannte ich auch nicht in der Form. Sehr interessant. In Österreich kann man damit aber wahrscheinlich kaum beeindrucken, zumal einen jeder für den letzten Trottel hält wenn er das liest.
